Description: The area in this image, between Asnelles-sur-Mer and St Come-de-Fresne, was assaulted earlier in the day by 1st Battalion the Hampshire Regiment. Cratered ground is evidence of naval gunfire support and an exploding shell is visible at the upper-right corner of the cluster of craters.
